The study was conducted in August based on a survey of more than 3,000 people from the economically active population category living in 571 populated areas.
In 2024, the number of Russian citizens who would like to become businessmen decreased by 5% compared to 20223. Compared to 2021, the figure fell by 12%.
The category of citizens most interested in starting their own business are respondents under 34 years of age (29%). 28% of study participants with an income of 100 thousand rubles or more admitted to wanting to become an entrepreneur, while among respondents with a low income level, only one in five expressed a desire to do so.
“Most newcomers to entrepreneurship have no idea about financial management and are afraid of it, especially in light of tax changes,” Fintablo noted.
According to the survey results, almost 70% of entrepreneurs had a negative attitude towards the increase in the simplified tax system tax in 2025. Amendments to the Tax Code will come into force on January 1, 2025, which will lead to large-scale changes in corporate and personal taxation.
