The number of women in cases of sexual abuse in department stores rises to 60

The case against the famous department store Harrods grows every week.

60 women have now come forward and claim they were sexually abused by the former owner of the London-based department store, Mohamed Al-Fayed.

This is stated by the women’s lawyers on Friday.

– The response has been enormous. We can confirm that we now represent 60 women, and more are on the way, reads a statement.

Last week, the department store apologized to 20 women who were then part of the case. But the number has grown since a BBC documentary on the case has been published.

The documentary reveals how the late Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed systematically abused employees of the famous department store.

The charges include serial rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse of minors. It must have taken place over a period of 25 years.

Last week, the women’s lawyers said they had received more than 100 inquiries from potential victims and people with new evidence.

According to the documentary, Harrods failed to intervene and helped cover up allegations of abuse while Al-Fayed was the owner between 1985 and 2010.

Al Fayed, who died last year aged 94, has always denied the allegations.
