In the first half of this year, the Czech used car market offered 45,153 new cars, i.e. cars with a mileage of up to 50,000 kilometers and an age of up to 5 years.
The offer of used cars, i.e. cars with a mileage of up to fifty thousand kilometers, a maximum of five years old, with a manufacturer’s warranty and a price up to 40% lower during the first year of operation than in the case of new ones, has been gradually growing for the second year. The Czech market offered 45,153 of these cars in the first half of this year, which is an 11% increase compared to the same period last year. Interested parties could buy these cars most often for 659,000 crowns. This resulted from a market analysis that is continuously carried out by the AURES Holdings group, the operator of the international AAA AUTO and Mototechna car center network.
“In recent months, we have observed a drop in the prices of used cars on the Czech market. This trend is gradually being prescribed in the segment of used cars, which replace insufficient or too expensive new cars. They are not only immediately available, but also characterized by a low age and mileage, and a manufacturer’s warranty and the price is up to forty percent lower than new. In the first half of this year, prices stabilized and these cars were offered most often for 659,000 crowns. The offer increased year-on-year to 45,153 cars, which is 11% more than in the first half of last year. ” Petr Vaněček, joint CEO (Co-CEO) of the AURES Holdings group, operator of the AAA AUTO and Mototechna car center network, comments on the situation on the used car market. The prices of used cars, which are offered on the Czech market most often up to two years old and with a mileage of less than twenty-three thousand kilometers, are gradually stabilizing for the second year.

New cars in the Czech advertising offer are mostly SUVs (42.8%), hatchbacks (25.1%) or station wagons (16.4%). The most common is the Škoda brand with the Fabia (5.9%), Octavia (4.2%) or Scala (3.9%) models. The majority of new cars offered have a gasoline engine (61.8%), but the offer of alternative fuels has increased significantly. In the last six months, Czechs could choose from almost double the number of new, purely battery-powered cars (specifically 1,643) and hybrids (2,730) than six months earlier. Of the electric cars, the Škoda Enyaq is the most advertised, and of the hybrids, the Toyota Corolla.
This statistic was created on the basis of data from the AURES Holdings group, which has been monitoring the situation on the Czech advertising market for more than ten years. In June, the group switched to a new generation of methodology, when it supplemented the data of advertising aggregators with data from the car register. More detailed tools for market monitoring, which the company has newly deployed, make it possible to better identify individual cars, and the data thus show even more precisely the situation on the secondary market in the Czech Republic and in the other four countries where the largest seller of used cars currently operates.
