OILSDavid Mamet’s controversial play, arrives at the Excelsior Theatre, bringing to the fore an intense confrontation about power, education and manipulation. The action unfolds between a charismatic university professor, played by Marius Turdeanuand a seemingly vulnerable student, played by Ioana Nicolae. A tense dialogue is born between the two, which quickly escalates into an unpredictable psychological confrontation with devastating consequences, exploring moral limits and the ambiguity of truth.

show OILS from the Excelsior Theater is the result of the collaboration of a creative team that brings depth and clarity to Mamet’s vision, transforming the play’s tension into an immersive experience. director Mădălin Hîncunominated for the UNITER prize for debut in 2018, is in his second collaboration with Teatrul Excelsior.

He worked with the Comedy Theater from Bucharest, where he staged “Night of the Bear”, the German State Theater Timișoara, the Târgu-Mureș National Theater and the “Matei Vișniec” Municipal Theater from Suceava. Recognized for his ability to combine classical themes with contemporary ones, Hîncu explores in OILS the power of words to create new realities and complicate the truth.

The scenography is signed by Răzvan Bordoswho collaborated with the Târgu-Mureș National Theatre, where he created the scenography for And horses shoot, don’t they?Constanța State Theater for Backyard games and the German State Theater Timișoara, for sonny.

Oleanna it’s a piece that challenges and unsettles, and that’s exactly why I was drawn to bring it to the Excelsior Theater stage. Together with Marius Turdeanu and Ioana Niculae, we try to explore not only the obvious conflict between the characters, but also the areas of moral ambiguity that leave the viewers to ask their own questions. Marius brings an incredible energy and depth that transforms each line into a genuine confrontation, and Ioana responds with the same intensity, generating a complex form of dynamism, in which both characters assert themselves through the intensity and subtlety of their arguments. I hope this show will challenge young viewers to reflect on how words and actions can change realitieshe says Mădălin Hîncuthe director of the show.

We are waiting for you, therefore, on October 31 or November 1, 2024, at the official premiere of the OLEANNA show.
