The solution may be an old-new trend: prefabricated technology, which is not energy-consuming ten-story panel houses, but so-called it is reborn in the form of climate walls and climate slabs.
The European prefabricated house market was valued at approximately EUR 33.21 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach EUR 55.2 billion by 2033 with a CAGR of 5.8 percent. According to McKinsey’s analysis, with the modular construction method, residential buildings and commercial properties can be completed in up to half the time and 20 percent cheaper than “traditional” buildings.
In the case of modern prefabricated construction technology, fewer and less qualified workers are needed at the construction site: in the case of a single-family house, an experienced specialist typically manages the construction team of only 4-5 people. In return, more responsibility falls on the designers, and the precise planning of the building and individual elements is more time-consuming. But thanks to the speed of the construction, this pays off handsomely, since the so-called for raising air-conditioning slabs. From the point of view of the cost of the subsequent operation of the properties – in contrast to the previous “panels”, energy efficiency is a key aspect, since heating and cooling make up 50 percent of the overhead costs of an average household.
„The air-conditioning slab is a prefabricated element that supplies both cooling and heating water, and the system is served by a heat pump. “The climate slab has been available in Hungary since 2020, demand for it has doubled every year since then” – reveals Gábor Takács, Leier’s business manager. “Currently, we install air-conditioning slabs in a ratio of half to half in single-family houses and in apartment buildings with 20 or even 60 apartments.” – adds the specialist.
