The Peugeot E-408 has been revealed. The French announce a maximum autonomy of 450 km

Peugeot expands its range of electric models with the new E-408. The zero-emission crossover can travel up to 450 km on a single charge.

Peugeot completes its range of electric vehicles with an all-electric version of the 408 crossover, following the launch of the plug-in hybrid version in 2022. The new all-electric version of the 408 joins a range of 12 electric models already in Peugeot’s portfolio.

The new E-408 uses a new propulsion system. Despite the fact that the car is based on the EMP2 platform of the Stellantis group, it does not share technical specifications with cars built on the same technical platform. For example, the electric Opel Astra or the Peugeot E-308 use a battery pack measuring 54 kWh and a 156 HP electric motor.

The Peugeot E-408 uses a larger battery of 58.2 kWh net, which the manufacturer says is enough to give the car a maximum range of 453 kilometers in the WLTP test regime.

Peugeot strengthens its electric range with the new E-408

With an overall length of 4.69 m and a width of 1.85 m, the Peugeot E-408 uses the E-EMP2 platform, which stands out for its 2.79 m wheelbase. The generous size allows the battery to be installed under the body, under the floor, between the wheels, thus preserving the space in the passenger compartment and lowering the center of gravity of the model.

The design has remained as we know it from the thermal version, but the electric version is distinguished by specific emblems, so you have to look closely to figure out which one you are dealing with. The cabin also kept the same look.

The E-408 comes standard with a 10-inch infotainment screen and integrated navigation, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Below this is another screen from which various shortcuts to car functions such as climate control, navigation or assistance systems can be configured. Peugeot announces that the new software version also brings integration with ChatGPT on board the E-408.
