A lot of the Pitesti-Sibiu highway opens, a year earlier than expected. The announcement was made by Irinel Ionel Scrioşteanu, state secretary in the Ministry of Transport.
The first lot of the Pitesti-Sibiu highway will open a year earlier than expected.
„Another 18 km from the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway, at the end. I went to the construction site of Section 5: Curtea de Argeș-Pitesti to check the progress of the works. The contractor has a consistent mobilization, having approximately 1,125 people and 210 machines on the entire construction site. “, Irinel Ionel Scrioşteanu, secretary of state in the Ministry of Transport, wrote on his Facebook account.
The Pitesti-Sibiu highway partially opens
The Secretary of State announced that, this year, an 18 km section of the Pitesti-Sibiu Highway is being opened.
„Considering the good mobilization of the builder, this year we will be able to put into traffic the first 18 km long section of this section, almost 1 year earlier than the contractual term. Later, shortly after the opening of the first section, we will complete the rest of the lot as far as Curtea de Argeș“, the Secretary of State also sent.
Ionel Scrioșteanu presented the status of the works on the construction site of Section 5, Curtea de Argeș – Pitesti:
- started making horizontal markings;
- the laying works of the AB31.5 asphalt base layer, the BAD 22.4 connecting layer and the MAS16 wear layer are being completed;
- the construction works of the ballast layer stabilized with cement related to the road superstructure are being completed;
- the installation of sound-absorbing panels continues;
- the installation of metal parapets continues;
- the execution of the longitudinal drainage, the median trench, the ditches and the trapezoidal channels continues;
- public lighting works continue;
- the execution works of the ITS system continue.
What works still need to be carried out on Section 5 of the Pitesti-Sibiu Highway
The Secretary of State also specified that on this highway section:
- at the bridge over DJ 704H (km 92+044) the parapet beam is concreted;
- at the bridge over the Argeș river canal (km 92+814) prefabricated lisles and shelves are being installed and work is being done on concreting the concrete slab;
- at the bridge over the Argeș river canal (km 95+927) work is being done on the installation of prefabricated rails and the concreting of the parapet beam;
- at the bridges over the Argeș River (km 96+707 and km 99+398) the parapet beam concreting was completed;
- at the bridge over the Tutana valley stream (km 101+829) waterproofing works have begun;
- at the bridge over the Argeș river canal (km 103+666) work is being done on the reinforcement and concreting of the concrete slab;
- at the bridge over the Valsan river (km 109+383) the installation of metal parapets and sound-absorbing panels has been completed and work is underway to install expansion joints;
- at the bridge over the Argeș River (km 110+565) the installation of the metal parapets has been completed and work is underway to install the expansion joints;
- waterproofing was completed at the bridge over the exploitation road (km 111+260);
- at the bridge over the Argeș river canal (km 111+362), the work continues to raise the last metal beams and the metal shelves are installed;
- at the bridge over the marshy area (km 111+780) the waterproofing works have been completed and the laying of the BA8 base layer has begun;
- on the passage over DN7, the Bascov junction (km 121+305) and the bridge over the canal (km 121+560) the works have been completed;
- at the bridge over the Bușaga valley (km 0+120), the execution of the elevations and the installation of the main beams have been completed;
- at the passage over DJ 704H (km 0+520) the execution of the sub-intersections was completed.
This lot also includes the construction of 3 main road junctions, as follows:
- Argeș Court:
- earthworks are being completed;
- continue the work of laying the base layer and the connecting layer;
- the execution of the piles at the retaining walls was completed;
- public lighting works continue.
- Baiculești:
- the laying works of the asphalt layers (base, link, wear) are being completed;
- continue mounting the lighting fixtures;
- continue mounting the chassis.
- Basque:
- earthworks are being completed;
- the works of laying the asphalt layers (base, link) are being completed and the laying of the wear layer has begun;
- public lighting works continue;
- the cases are mounted.
The first section of this highway, with a length of 15 kilometers, was opened in 2022, between Boita and Sibiu.
