The Pixel 11 product line can bring back an extremely useful feature –

Users first encountered it in the Pixel 4 series.

One of the biggest limitations of Google’s facial recognition is that it doesn’t work in complete darkness, but it sometimes encounters difficulties even in low light conditions. This problem can be remedied by the Pixel 11 series, with the help of the Tensor G6 chip and a related dedicated system.

The infrared (IR) camera system located under the display is not new: the Pixel 4 product line already provided the possibility of unlocking in the dark with the help of a dot projector, a reflector and two IR cameras years ago.

The Pixel 11 series is expected to come up with a similar but improved solution, which would use Tensor G6’s image signal processing processor (ISP) to support under-display IR cameras.

The Android Authority according to his report, the new chip would allow the system to operate more efficiently, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption. Although Google’s plans are not yet fully known, if the technology becomes a reality, users can expect to see a feature similar to Apple’s Face ID in the new devices.
