The place for fake Audi tailpipes

Audi will no longer equip its large petrol, diesel and hybrid cars with fake tailpipes on the rear bumper of the vehicle. The move comes after extensive customer feedback; people apparently like the tailpipe-like decorations on the rear bumper of the vehicle, while the actual tailpipes are unglamorously hidden behind the bumper.

Speaking to Auto Express following the unveiling of the latest petrol Audi A5 and S5, a spokesperson for the brand said:

– All PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) cars will have functional exhaust pipes.

PPC is a new platform for the middle class of vehicles (and more) and the new A5 was created on it, which replaces the A4, reminds HAK magazine.

Why did car manufacturers start hiding exhaust pipes in the first place? This is mainly due to the complexity of the design and safety issues due to the hot metal pipe in close proximity to the plastic cladding, but there are also financial and aesthetic reasons for this trend. But customers react to such design details with disdain.
