When preparing the plans, important aspects were taken into account:

The quay section is a flood-prone area.

  • At the time of planning, the BKK considered it appropriate to design, green, and place public elements that would withstand environmental challenges in the event of another flood, and would not hinder the arduous work of flood protection.

Antall József Id. is a multi-functional, bustling public square

  • According to the plans, a double row of trees will be created between the Parliament and the Chain Bridge, cars will be able to travel with a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour, in accordance with today’s average speed, in order to make traffic safer and reduce noise pollution, but there will still be car traffic on this section conditions.
  • Directional bicycle lanes, new exits and zebra crossings will also be created to improve conditions for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. A multifunctional square can be created, which serves car traffic on weekdays, but can be the site of community programs on weekends and holidays.

The steps can be returned to the area under the Elizabeth Bridge

  • According to the plans, the square will be entirely for pedestrians, trees will be planted and a double flight of stairs will be created in the place of the current road. Car traffic can and will reach the Pest upper wharf via the Petőfi tér ramp.
