Within the Local Youth Plan of the Martorell City Council and coinciding with the commemoration of the International Day against Male Violence (November 25), the Teatracción company is once again performing the play That’s enough for Secondary school students from Martorell schools. The sessions started this Monday in the Joan Cererols Auditorium of the Cultural Center and there will be a second round on December 17.
That’s enough is an interactive theater activity that works to prevent violence in the field of young people and adolescents. This educational resource directly and indirectly affects some aspects of urgency today: violence in family life, violence between peers or bullying, violence against women and sexist attitudes, abuse due to neglect, and the influence of the media on the perception of violence.
This morning, around 120 4th grade ESO students from the Shared Education Unit (UEC) Martorell, 3rd grade ESO students from the Maria Canela Institute, and the Work Transition Plan (PTT) of Sales and Electromechanics. Also 150 3rd year ESO students from the Joan Oró Institute.
Next Tuesday, December 17, it will be the turn of 150 4th grade ESO students from the Pompeu Fabra Institute. Its session was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, but it had to be postponed due to the strike call of the Students’ Union on the occasion of the DANA in the Valencian Country.
Manolo Cortés, coordinator of the Youth Area of Martorell City Council, explains that “one of the activities of the Local Youth Plan is the high school intervention program, which includes these theater forums for Secondary students”. “This first work, That’s enoughwe do it to coincide with the International Day against Gender-Based Violence, although it is not only violence against women, but also in the family sphere or in the media”.

The work, subsidized by the Department of Education of the Generalitat, interprets several sketches of situations. “The teenagers see themselves reflected in some of the attitudes presented by the actors and it provokes a good reflection on them. A forum theater of this type is much more effective than a hundred talks about violence.”
“In addition, from the Teatreacció website, teachers can access the link of the Xerxa Telemàtica Educativa de Catalunya (XTEC) and find materials to work on this topic in class”, adds Cortés.

The play was created with the purpose of asking young people about the violence that surrounds them, through different conflicting situations where they feel identified, giving way to a subsequent dialogue. To de-dramatize the debate on this topic, but with the essential rigor, all through a stage proposal that uses attractive and agile language.
Enhance reflection, so that the young person can consider how to act appropriately in situations where family and peer relationships result in acts that set off alarms. And to stimulate the young person so that he is able to make positive choices and can make decisions in a responsible and autonomous manner in the face of conflicting situations.
The activity consists of two parts that complement each other. In the first part, the creation of a family is represented until the moment when the son is young and is with his parents at the table at lunchtime. Through the family conversation, different situations related to abuse due to neglect, violence in family life, the influence of the media and peer violence are introduced.
The second part opens with the theatrical debate where the public is invited to participate actively, exposing and debating the questions raised during the performance, emphasizing school bullying.
