As you know, Chinese manufacturers love sub-brands and Xiaomi adores them the most. It has made its two model lines, Redmi and Poco, its own separate brands, under which it delivers affordable phones focused on the price / performance ratio. The Poco brand, which focuses exclusively on young users, but now cancels its official website. Is it possible to end it?
Poco is closing its official website
The fact that the Poco brand will close its official website is not a big news, and Xiaomi, which owns it, announced it already in October last year. This is now officially happening and all the products that were on these pages are slowly starting to move under the Xiaomi domain.
Poco phones will also be sold through the official website of the Chinese manufacturer and will be the first models that will be available through the domain mi.com purchased, will become a new pair of Poco X7 and X7 Pro. The Poco site is still working, but all its language mutations will be gradually closed.
Is the end of the Poco brand in danger?
Within the official Xiaomi website, Poco phones are located under a separate tab, and the dedicated Poco Store application has also been discontinued. But why did the Chinese giant actually take that step and is it possible that there is a threat of ending the Poco brand as such and returning to Xiaomi?
It is realistic that it can really be in play and it is quite possible that in time we will see the inclusion of Poc back in the position of the Xiaomi model line. This would mean that the independent Xiaomi sub-brand would only be represented by Redmi, which stands one step higher in the hierarchy of the Chinese manufacturer.
Was Poco ever actually independent?
The fact is that even though Poco was considered an independent brand, it was never completely autonomous and independent. For Xiaomi, this brand served more as a tool to expand sales channels in various markets, and a large part of Poco phones are just rebranded Redmi devices. Anyway, Poco is still a Xiaomi brand for now, just without a separate home address.
