Aimed at small and medium-sized organizations and managed service providers (MSPs), the PoE12-3PD extender opens up wider options for network deployment and helps ensure connectivity in places where there are not enough electrical outlets, such as sprawling interiors, historic buildings or larger outdoor spaces. In addition to the possibility of installation in both indoor and outdoor environments, the advantages of the PoE12-3PD extender also include cloud management support.

Although PoE switches can be used to simplify the cable infrastructure, their use is limited to a maximum length of one hundred meters of cables while maintaining full gigabit speed. The new PoE12-3PD extender from Zyxel Networks is an efficient and affordable solution that can extend the network reach even further and provide seamless connectivity indoors and outdoors.

The PoE12-3PD extender is a simple plug-and-play solution that transmits both data and power using PoE to a device at the edge of the network. The extender has three PoE+ output ports with a total power capacity of 45 W, so it can simultaneously power several PoE-enabled devices, such as IP cameras, access control systems, IoT devices, smart home devices and sensors that are often installed outdoors or in hard-to-reach parts of the building.
After installation, the events in the entire network can be centrally monitored using the cloud platform Nebula from Zyxel Networks. A web interface and an application are used to access the Nebula platform, which makes it easier for network administrators and providers of managed services not only to monitor the network itself, but also to solve potential problems.
The PoE12-3PD extender is designed with an emphasis on ensuring continuous connectivity. Its uninterruptible PoE maintenance feature can keep connected devices powered even during firmware upgrades, keeping network downtime to a minimum.
Robust conchtruction
Thanks to its robust construction, IP55 protection and the ability to operate at temperatures from -20 °C to +50 °C, the PoE12-3PD extender is perfectly suited for outdoor and industrial environments. The extender offers the possibility of installation on a wall or on a pole and has a 6 KV surge protection and a grounding cable. In line with Zyxel Networks’ efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and waste production, the PoE12-3PD extender comes in plastic-free packaging.
