- From March 1, 2025, the popular .cz domain will increase in price
- It has kept the same price for the past 5 years
- Registrars can charge even more
It currently exists more than 1,478,500 domains with the ending .cz. The current wholesale price for new registrations was (and still is) 145 CZK without VAT.
This amount was determined by the administrator of the domestic Internet CZ.NIC already in 2019 and has not increased it since then, despite the sharply rising inflation. But now he has come to the decision that the most suitable time has come to increase the price – and so after 5 years the wholesale price tag of the national domain will jump to 160 CZK without VAT.
Of March 1, 2025 therefore, those interested in the .cz domain will have to dig deeper into their pockets. And probably by more than 15 crowns. The registrars (e.g. Wedos, Forpsi or Active24) who, thanks to the decentralization of the domain system, offer and sell domains still adjust the final amount with regard to their costs. Therefore, each of them offers it at a different price, and some now want almost 300 CZK.
The time when the Czech domain was cheaper is apparently already irretrievably gone. It was sold the cheapest after 2012, when the wholesale price was only 125 crowns. Nevertheless, it is still not a tragic amount – some may still remember the year 1999, when CZ.NIC started managing domains in the country and the Czech .cz offered at unbelievable prices 800 CZK.
Do you think the price for a Czech domain is fair?
