The complaint comes from the Roman secretary of the Democratic Party Enzo Foschi, who writes on Facebook: “The posters advertising the photographic exhibition on Enrico Berlinguer created by the PD Ponte Milvio and displayed in the premises of our section were torn down during the night”. The post shows with a photo the posting of the vandalized reproduction of the large black and white photos.

“An infamous and shameful act that will further strengthen our desire to continue in the Ponte Milvio neighborhood as in all the other neighborhoods of our city ‘house by house, street by street’ to make the Democratic Party more and more the party of the people” , added Foschi. The vandalization of the posters was apparently not claimed by any political symbol. “It is an act of hooliganism, there was no political claim, but it is an indication of a bad climate. Furthermore, it is a gesture that offends the feelings of people beyond political membership”, underline the club.

The most beloved secretary of the Italian Communist Party, who died of a heart attack on 11 June 1984, was enrolled in the Ponte Milvio section, once of the PCI and now of the PD. Hence the choice to celebrate this bond with a photographic exhibition set up for the 40th anniversary of Berlinguer’s death, which can be visited inside the club for over a month.

“The posters torn at Ponte Milvio are a cowardly act carried out by ignorant and cowardly people.
Once again an attempt is made to attack in an ignoble manner the figure of Berlinguer who belongs to the history of this country. I would like to express my solidarity with the democratic community”, said the regional councilor of Action Alessio D’Amato in a note.
