The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, said that the Premier League rejected the club’s request to postpone the first two games of the next season, due to obligations at the Club World Cup.

The Club World Cup is on the program from June 15 to July 13 next year in the USA, and apart from Manchester City, Chelsea also secured participation in this tournament, when it comes to teams from the Premier League.

“The club asked the Premier League to postpone two games for us, so that we can rest after the Club World Cup, but we are not allowed to do that. Many thanks to them. They don’t want to postpone these games,” Guardiola said.

The football calendar worries an increasing number of players and coaches.

Manchester City players have complained about the calendar before. First Rodri, who was injured and ended the season, and then Bernardo Silva.

“More games in the Nations League, Two more games in the group stage of the Champions League. If you don’t qualify directly for the round of 16, you have to play two more play-off games. It’s not easy, especially for those who live abroad. I spend a little time with my family and to friends. It’s part of my job, but we have a huge number of games,” said Silva.
