The premiere of GTA VI does not impress them. This studio is not afraid of competition

Next year’s premiere of GTA VI could be a huge event on an unprecedented scale. However, not everyone is afraid of the latest production from Rockstar Games studio.

Everyone is waiting for specific information related to the premiere of GTA VI. First of all, in the context of the release date, which is still unknown. There is no denying that this title will enjoy the greatest popularity, which may affect the sales of other games released at the same time. When Rockstar Games and Take 2 present their plans, some studios and publishers will adjust their publishing calendars in such a way as not to sabotage their own titles. However, not everyone is afraid of competition. Yves Guillemot himself spoke on the matter. The head of Ubisoft stated clearly in a conversation with investors:

Generally we see that when GTA comes out, more people come to play. Generally speaking, it has a positive effect on the entire market.

Guillemot concluded that this statement may seem counterintuitive, but it works in the companies’ favor – at least when it comes to Ubisoft. The French studio has already shown that it likes strong competition and it paid off. The premiere of my favorite installment of the Assassin’s Creed series took place a month after the release of GTA V. This is Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, which hit store shelves on October 29, 2013. “The pirate assassin” was not afraid of such a strong competitor and did quite well. In the first week, Ubisoft’s hit sold in over 2.36 million copies. It is true that it is much less than GTA V, but the French studio was happy with this result. Although there is no information about Ubisoft’s games next year, we can assume that the company will not be particularly concerned about the release date of GTA VI and if it plans its own premiere, it will not change it.

Competition is good. Ubisoft is not afraid of GTA VI

GTA V, released in mid-September 2013, which debuted first on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, broke records on its first day. Looking at the website Guinness World Recordswe learn that the Rockstar Games production broke 7 records in just 24 hours. These records were:

  1. Best-selling action-adventure game in 24 hours
  2. Best-selling video game in 24 hours
  3. Fastest $1 Billion Entertainment Title
  4. The Fastest Video Game to Earn $1 Billion
  5. The video game that made the most money in 24 hours
  6. Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours
  7. Most Viewed Action Adventure Game Trailer

And since we’re on the subject of trailers, it’s worth adding that the first and, so far, only GTA VI trailer, released at the end of the year, has passed another milestone, which we mentioned last week. In just one day, it gained 88 million views, quickly surpassing 100 million. But that’s not enough. For the past several days, a campaign has been underway on social media by fans who are very keen for the 1.5-minute-long material to reach another milestone – 200 million views. And the effects didn’t take long to appear.

The Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1, which you can see above, has 201,218,343 views at the time of this writing’s publication. While that’s still not enough to break the record held by the mobile game Subway Surfers, Rockstar Games can be congratulated on their great result. Will the second trailer enjoy greater interest? If the studio focuses on gameplay elements in it, it’s safe to assume that the trailer will be dissected and analyzed in great detail. Are you waiting?

GTA VI. Everything you need to know about the game

If you want to find all the information about Grand Theft Auto VI revealed so far (and there really was a lot of it), check it out here. Are you waiting? There’s no denying that Rockstar Games faces a huge challenge and meeting the expectations of players that are so high that it may be very difficult. However, looking at the successive installments of the series that the studio is responsible for (both GTA and Red Dead Redemption), we can suspect that the “six” will go down in history. The only question is whether it will be a fulfillment of fans’ dreams or one of the biggest disappointments of recent years. Whatever you say, the game will still sell fantastically.
