The precision in basic goods keeps inflation high, but it affects everything in general, like e.g. the prices of our mobile phones. In fact, this time there is talk of a higher price for the upcoming series Huawei Mate 70 in with its predecessor, the Mate 60.
The word about this small price increase comes from a Weibo tipster, Fixed Focus Digital, who suggests that the new flagship will be flagship due to advanced features and a possibly expensive new Kirin chipset. However, consumers may find some relief in that the increase is expected to be moderate.
Looking at past release trends, Huawei usually raises prices by 100-200 yuan for its new high-end phones. Following this pattern, the Mate 70 series could see a similar price adjustment. As a simple example let’s say that the Mate 60 series was released with a starting price of 5499 yuan.
It is important to note that these are just guesses based on past trends. The actual price increase for the Mate 70 series remains to be seen.
Another separate leak suggests that the new Kirin chip could be a major factor in the price hike. This next-gen chip is rumored to be more expensive to produce than previous versions, which could translate into higher costs for the same phones. Additionally, other advanced features and components could contribute to the price increase.
Users looking to get their hands on the Mate 70 series won’t have to wait much longer. Sales are expected to begin early next month.
Another tipster suggests that online sales could start later this month, with availability of devices in brick-and-mortar stores to follow from December. The exact release date of the flagship model is still unclear, although Huawei has confirmed that it will be released within this month.
