The week behind us was marked by weak supply and increased demand for all primary agricultural products. The prices of corn and soybeans recorded an increase. 6,170.00 tons of goods were traded through the Product Exchange this week, statistically 117.64% more than seven days earlier when activity was weak. The financial value of the turnover was RSD 137,117,750.00. The primacy in trading this week also had corn.
Wheat without much supply, corn on top
In the week after us, the corn market recorded the most activity, and corn was the most sought-after commodity on the commodities market. Supply was noticeably weaker than demand, and interest in corn was also expressed at the CPT onion parity. The increase in the offer occurred only on the last day of the week.
Exchange contracts were concluded in the price range from 18.20 to 19.00 din/kg without VAT, depending on the aflatoxin analysis and parity. The weighted price was 18.55 din/kg without VAT (20.41 din/kg with VAT). Weak supply contributed to the increase in the price of this cereal by 1.13% compared to the previous week. Corn was also traded at the CPT port/customer parity at a price of 19.00 to 19.20 din/kg without VAT. A stock market contract for corn harvested in 2023 at a price of 18.70 dinars/kg without VAT was also concluded. In the total volume of turnover this week, corn participated with a 55% share.
During the first half of the week, the wheat market was very calm, but from the middle of the week there was an increase in demand. By the end of the week, the offer was very weak or even completely absent. Exchange contracts for bread grain this week were concluded in a wide price range from 20.10 to 23.00 dinars/kg excluding VAT, depending on quality and parity parameters.
Wheat with weaker quality parameters had the largest share in trading, which led to a statistical price drop of 0.41% compared to the previous week. The weighted price was 20.57 din/kg without VAT (22.63 din/kg with VAT). Wheat accounted for 33% of the weekly turnover.
Barley more active than usual
As with other commodities, there was a noticeable weak supply on the soybean market this week, and last week’s price increase continued this week. Soybean was sold in the price range from 58.80 to 59.00 dinars/kg without VAT, with the calculation of quality. The weighted price was 58.84 din/kg without VAT (64.72 din/kg with VAT), and a price increase of 0.73% was recorded. Imported soybeans of Croatian origin were also on offer this week.
Unlike the previous week when the feed barley market was completely passive with no trading, this week there was an increase in activity. The increase in the price of feed barley was noticeable as the week progressed. The exchange contract was concluded at a price level of 19.00 din/kg without VAT. One exchange contract for feed barley with a hectoliter weight of 60 kg at a price of 19.20 din/kg without VAT was concluded, as well as one exchange contract with extended advance payment at a price of 20.00 din/kg without VAT. Feed barley accounted for 10% of the total weekly turnover.
