Arabica coffee bean futures have risen to levels not seen since 1977 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Yesterday, Arabica futures closed at $3.23 a pound ($7,122 a ton), 4.6% higher than the day before. Today, the New York Stock Exchange is closed for Thanksgiving, but trading will take place on the London Stock Exchange, where Robusta bean futures are traded. Also, Robusta, which is trading at the highest level in several decades, rose 7.7% yesterday and 0.6% today, reaching $5,567 per ton.
