The price of wheat on the Product Exchange continued to fall, although the market was relatively calm. A total of 2,835.00 tons of goods were traded through the Product Exchange, 9.28% less than the previous week. The total financial value was RSD 85,998,000.00. After two weeks in which the dominant place in the trading was held by wheat, this week the primacy was taken over by corn. The price of wheat recorded a negative trend, while the price of soybeans increased.
Maize is the dominant crop on the Product Exchange
On the corn market during this week there was an increase in activity compared to seven days before. In the week after us, 1,850.00 tons of corn were traded, 1,650.00 tons more than the previous week.
The interest of market participants in the new corn crop made corn the dominant crop in trading this week, and it accounted for 67% of the total weekly turnover. At the beginning of the week, the increased supply was noticeable, and in the second half of the week, the demand exceeded the supply.
Stock market contracts for corn harvested in 2024 were concluded in the price range from 18.00 to 18.50 dinars/kg without VAT, depending on the aflatoxin analysis and parity. The weighted price was 18.35 din/kg without VAT (20.18 din/kg with VAT).
The price of wheat fell
The wheat market was quiet throughout the week, except for a short-lived increase in activity on Wednesday. The supply largely exceeded the demand, which was weak and at a lower price level than the supply. During the week, buyers’ interest in wheat with higher quality parameters was noticeable.
Exchange contracts were concluded in a wide price range from 20.40 to 23.50 dinars/kg without VAT, depending on quality and parity parameters. The weighted price was 20.66 din/kg without VAT (22.72 din/kg with VAT), and a price drop of 1.63% was noticeable compared to the previous week.
The price of soybeans increased due to weak supply
There were no major changes in the soybean market this week either. In the first half of the week, the supply was slightly weaker than the demand, but from the middle of the week, the supply increased. Exchange contracts for the crop of 2024 were concluded in the price range from 58.00 to 58.50 dinars/kg without VAT with quality calculation.
The weighted price was 58.41 din/kg without VAT (64.26 din/kg with VAT). Weak supply contributed to a 2.48% increase in soybean prices.
Fodder barley
The feed barley market was passive during the whole week with weak demand, and the conclusion of exchange contracts was absent.
