The price tag for the All New Hilux Rangga is ‘Friendly’ for Businessmen’s Pockets

DAPURPACUID – PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) finally officially attached a price tag to the newest variant in its commercial product line, the Hilux Rangga, Tuesday (15/10).

With a price starting from IDR 188 million on the road (OTR) Jakarta, the All New Hilux Rangga is predicted to offer a number of conveniences to entrepreneurs according to their needs.

TAM President Director, Hiroyuki Ueda said, Hilux Rangga was specifically designed as multi-purpose mobility to meet the various needs of individuals, businesses and communities.

Furthermore, Ueda-san explained, all levels of society can take advantage of the multifunctional light commercial vehicle solutions offered by Hilux Rangga for all their business needs.

“This marks an important historical milestone for Toyota which is designed to support the mobility needs of wider society and contribute to prosperity for all,” he explained on the sidelines of the launch at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The presence of the All New Hilux Rangga cannot be separated from its ‘involvement’ in the success of the Toyota Kijang as the best-selling pickup in Indonesia, since the product was first released in 1977.

Even if you look at the name alone, it certainly reminds you of one of the variants of the multi-purpose vehicle product, aka Toyota’s MPV, namely the Kijang ‘Capsule’ which was launched in 1997.

Competent Ammunition

Toyota Astra Motor presents the All New Hilux Rangga to the automotive market, especially in the commercial segment, with various variants offered in two types of engines.

In terms of dimensions, for both petrol and diesel types, the length reaches 4,965 mm. Then the width is 1,785 mm, height 1,740 mm, wheelbase 2,750 mm and ground clearance 180 mm.

There are two types of cargo bin options: 1-way with rear door opening and 3-way for rear and side doors, so customers can adjust their needs.

From the exterior sector, the All-New Hilux Rangga presents a boxy design that looks more powerful but aggressive, with an iconic appearance in a modern retro style that gives a boxy impression.

The large ‘TOYOTA’ emblem on the grille and rear tailgate creates an outstanding impression. By appearing prominently, this commercial car is a reflection of the company’s professionalism in running its business.

Turning to the cabin, the design is relatively minimalist, dominated by black but functional with an ergonomic seating position that ensures comfort for the driver and passengers.

The dashboard is also designed to be more modern and functional, and is equipped with various features to support driver activities, such as blowers, power windows, cupholders and several storage compartments.

The position of the rack and pinion steering system, like a passenger car, is made easier by tilt steering and power steering to make it easier to turn direction with a turning radius of only 4.9 meters.

The deck design is designed to be flat with a length of 2,305 mm and a width of 1,700 mm, and a payload capacity of up to 1.2 tons or the equivalent of carrying 56 gallons of mineral water.

For the first time in its class, the All-New Hilux Rangga is equipped with a roof rack mounting point just above the cabin, with the ability to carry luggage up to a payload of 75 kg.

There are also 8 hooks on the left and right tub lids, as well as 4 hooks on the rear door, to fasten luggage so that it remains safe through various road conditions.

Hilux Rangga offers two engine choices, namely type 1TR-FE (petrol) with a pure capacity of 1,998 cc with 4 cylinder Dual VVT-i configuration, which produces 137 hp of power with a peak torque of 183 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

Meanwhile, the diesel engine variant is supported by the 2GD-FTV type, with a 4-cylinder common rail configuration supported by a VNT Turbocharger and Intercooler, capable of producing 147 hp of power with a maximum torque of up to 343 Nm (MT) and 400 Nm (AT).

Both engine types offer a 5-speed manual transmission option for all grades (petrol and diesel), as well as a 6-speed automatic which is available on the High A/T Diesel variant.

Interestingly, through internal testing, fuel consumption for the Hilux Rangga diesel engine variant is claimed to reach 14.2 km/liter. Both petrol and diesel engines have Euro 4 emission standards.
