Albin Kurti, the prime minister of Kosovo, congratulated the players for leaving the field of play during the match against Romania.
“I want to express my total solidarity with the attitude you had there… It is not the first time this has happened to us. Now the glass has been filled”, said Albin Kurti to the players he met on Sunday.
“There is no more room for such derogatory attacks which are unacceptable in a civilized world”
“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will do everything to continue the fight in the area of international and diplomatic politics, but also in terms of the legal aspect, so that UEFA and FIFA punish the guilty”, the prime minister also said, according to Telegraf, quoted by GSP.
“It is an attitude based on principles, a correct and useful attitude, both for Kosovo and for football and every citizen of our country who felt represented by the statements and attitude of captain Amir Rrahmani, whom I congratulate and thank from the bottom of my heart ”, concluded Albin Kurti.
Marcel Ciolacu: It is totally unacceptable
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, PSD leader, reacted to the statements of his Kosovar counterpart about the scandal at the Friday match.
“It is totally unacceptable what the prime minister of Kosovo is doing, who mixes politics with sports and claims, after the gesture of his national football team to abandon the match against Romania, that he will apply political-diplomatic pressure to punish us!
His lordship tries in vain to turn the culprit into a victim and – more seriously – wants to put political pressure on the European football forum, hoping for an illusory decision! I tell him directly and clearly that, no matter how hard he tries, he cannot distort reality and that he is going the wrong way anyway because politics has no business in sports!
As for what happened on Friday evening, there is only one truth: the culprits are clear and they are not the Romanian players nor the audience at the National Arena!” said Ciolacu.
“I can admit that the players from Kosovo played better, but that does not absolve them of the gesture at the end of the match, for which they must bear the consequences!
And I’m sure that this is exactly what will happen!”, said the Prime Minister of Romania, on Sunday, in a post on Facebook.
