FCA Serbia, part of the global Stelantis group, will soon ceremonially start the production of a new electric car model at its factory in Kragujevac – “Fiat Grande Panda”. The event is a turning point for the automotive industry of Serbia and marks the beginning of a new era, with the transition from the historic model “fica” to the modern electric “panda”.

The “Fiat Grande Panda” model will be available in two versions: electric and hybrid. The hybrid version will cost less than 19,000 euros, while the electric version will have a starting price of less than 25,000 euros.

The production of this model is the result of two years of preparations and an investment of a total of 190 million euros, of which 48 million euros were provided by the state of Serbia. This represents significant progress compared to the beginnings of automobile production in Kragujevac, which began with the production of the legendary “fiche”, produced in almost a million copies over 30 years.

With this project, Serbia should become the first country in the Balkans to have serial production of electric vehicles, which could lay the foundations for its status as a leader in this field in the region. In addition, this model could have a significant impact on the electric vehicle market in Europe.

As many countries subsidize the purchase of electric vehicles, the low price of the new “Panda” could represent serious competition for Chinese manufacturers, who are trying to conquer the European market with their affordable models. If the new “Fiat Grande Panda” manages to meet European safety and equipment standards, its price of around 20,000 euros, perhaps even lower with state subsidies, could make it one of the most competitive electric cars on the market.
