The Prosecutor intervenes in the case of the 15-year-old who died in Enna

On the case of the 15-year-old found hanged in Piazza Armerina, the prosecutor of the Caltanissetta juvenile court Rocco Cosentino calls a press conference for Tuesday: “We need to clarify some news.”

On the case of the 15-year-old girl found dead, hanging from a tree, on November 5th Piazza Armerina (Enna), now the Prosecutor’s Office speaks. Or rather, the prosecutor of the Caltanissetta juvenile court Rocco Cosentino intervenes again giving news of a press conference which will take place on Tuesday 26 November necessary – we read – to clarify some aspects which have been widely disseminated in the mass media.

Aspects which, according to the Prosecutor, have generated public outcry. “In relation to the news given in recent days (by press agencies and magazines, as well as by the main national and local news programmes), with particular emphasis and in great detail, regarding the investigations following the tragic death of the fifteen-year-old from Piazza Armerina, this Office deems it necessary to call a press conference”.

Cosentino’s statement states that “it is necessary to clarify some aspects which have been widely disseminated in the mass media, which have generated public outcry, essentially due to the revelation of some alleged news on the development of the investigations; the fact that they were traced back to unspecified investigative sources, indeed completely inexplicablycontributed to giving it an appearance of truthfulness”.

“I know who it was, we mentioned names and surnames”: the suspicions of the mother of the 15-year-old who died in Enna

And again, the Prosecutor’s Office communicates that these news leaked to the media have determined, or in any case strengthened, “the public belief of a certain course of events capable of creating alarmismin its unjustified state, with obvious repercussions on the protection of public order”. For these reasons, the Prosecutor’s Office wants to clarify all the salient points of the investigative activity carried out so far “obviously within the limits of the extensibility of the documents and to the extent that they are supported by objective corroborating elements”. The press conference will be held on Tuesday 26 November at 10am in the premises of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for minors in Caltanissetta.

The tragic story of the 15-year-old from Enna caused great outcry, and the girl’s family immediately said they had doubts about the suicide. “We have suspicions about who might have done it because we found out that my daughter was threatened with death. I spoke to the investigators. We mentioned names and surnames,” the mother said just a few days ago.

It was actually the victim’s mother to find her hanging from a tree near the house. That day, according to the reconstruction, the young woman had had an argument at school with some of her peers and then had asked to go home first. The mother had gone to run some errands and when she returned, about 45 minutes later, she found her hanging, now dead. The autopsy carried out on the body revealed “anomalous” methods of suicide: according to what was leaked, the girl had her neck, abdomen and feet tied with a swing rope. His hands were free, his cervical bone was not broken and the shoes were clean.
