Presented last year, the Sony DualSense Edge is a high-end controller whose launch price was far too high for us to really recommend it. It’s more worth it when it’s less expensive. Precisely, for the end of the year, we find it at 209.99 euros instead of 239.99 euros at Cdiscount.
Alongside the classic DualSense, since last year we have found another game controller in Sony’s catalog: the DualSense Edge, a much more premium controller… but also very expensive. Too expensive, even. An excessive price which is, in our opinion, not really justified, given its technical sheet. This high-end controller is, however, much more recommendable when it is a little less expensive.
The essential points of the Sony DualSense Edge
- A customizable controller
- Adaptive triggers, advanced vibrations, microphone…
- Autonomy of 5h30
Launched at 239.99 euros, the Sony DualSense Edge controller is currently available on promotion at 209.99 euros at Cdiscount.

A customizable controller
The format of the Sony DualSense Edge controller is quite close to that of the classic model, but the brand has still opted for a few changes. For example, it changed the texture on the palms and L2/R2 triggers to provide a better grip and make the whole thing more comfortable. Additional buttons have also been added under and to the front of the pad. The DualSense Edge is also heavier than the first DualSense (335 g compared to 280), but this gain of a few grams is also a guarantee of solidity. On the other hand, we approve less of the “glossy black” aesthetic for the buttons and part of the shell, which attracts fingerprints far too much.
The DualSense Edge makes up for it with the many customization options it offers. It comes with, like Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series, a storage box containing several accessories: different analog stick caps, a box allowing you to lock the charging cable on the controller (to play wired without latency) and two additional sets of buttons to be placed under the controller. Also note that the sticks are removable: changing is very easy. A good point for repairability.
The features of the classic DualSense are there
Just like the classic DualSense, the DualSense Edge offers a host of features that improve the experience on PS5. The microphone, the gyroscope and the speaker are well and truly integrated, as are the adaptive triggers, which allow us to benefit from different levels of force and tension when we interact with our environment in the game, or even the Haptic feedback, which allows more finesse in feelings thanks to micro-vibrations. The controller is also recognized by Windows 11, whether with a Bluetooth connection or with the USB cable.
Finally, regarding its autonomy, the DualSense Edge lasted 5h30 during our test before having to go through the charging box. We would have really liked more autonomy, especially since the DualSense Edge is heavier than the classic model, and therefore likely to contain a larger battery. Moreover, the battery is non-removable here, like on the DualSense.
