The PS5 Slim is back on sale especially for Amazon Prime Day

We can’t say that the temperatures are summery this year. So why not comfort yourself with Sony’s latest next-gen console? In its Slim version, the PlayStation 5 is on sale at Amazon: it is listed at 479 euros during Prime Day, compared to the usual 549 euros.

Unveiled last November, the latest iteration of Sony’s next-gen console is intended to be lighter and, above all, less imposing than the PlayStation 5 – whose design still divides opinion today. The PS5 Slim is no less powerful, since it benefits from the same power as its big sister, with a few improvements along the way. These features are all the more interesting when the console sees its price melted by 75 euros.

A lighter, but equally powerful PS5

Like the PS4, the latest generation of Sony consoles has been given its Slim version. A model that stands out – as you might expect – for its reduced format compared to the original. We note a few centimeters less, here and there, but nothing very impressive in the end. It is rather in terms of weight that the Slim name of the PS5 takes on its full meaning: we go to 3.2 kg for the version with reader against 4.5 kg for the launch version and to 2.6 kg for the Digital version against 3.9 kg for the launch version. A groove in the upper two-thirds of the console makes its appearance. It marks the place where the case can be removed to integrate or remove the console’s disc reader. Big news on the console. In this regard, Sony has done things well since the manipulation is very simple to do. Note that you will have to register the reader beforehand via the PS5 to take advantage of it.

Another welcome improvement: the integration of two USB-C ports on the front, replacing the USB-C/USB-A combo of the old version. We also note a cooling system that is now more compact, with smaller heat sinks – due to the reduced format – and the integration of a 1TB SSD to replace the 825 GB SSD of the old version. And it is even possible to add a second M.2 SSD to store even more games. Well done, Sony. For the rest, the recipe does not change. The performance provided by the PS5 Slim is therefore the same. If it natively runs games in 4K 60 FPS, it can go up to 120 FPS.

An immersive controller

And to make the most of the console’s performance, the PS5 Slim obviously comes with a DualSense controller. Its features, including its adaptive triggers that increase sensitivity in gameplay, significantly enhance players’ immersion in their games.

Added to this is the fact that Sony has swapped the classic vibration motors for haptic feedback that allows for more finesse in the feelings. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the DualSense controller maintains a battery life of around twelve hours, which is pretty good. The USB-C port on the controller will allow for faster charging than before.
