Washington Capitals hockey captain Alexander Ovechkin will return to his team’s lineup in the next match.
Tomorrow night’s game against Toronto should be his first since breaking a bone in his left leg in a collision with Seattle’s Jack McBain on November 18.
Ovechkin trained alongside his usual teammates Dylan Strome and Aljaksej Protas, while also attending power play practice.
According to nhl.com, coach Spencer Carbery said things are going in the right direction for Ovechkin, but left the decision to play in Toronto up to him.
Before the injury, Ovechkin was the competition’s top scorer with 15 goals in 18 games. High goal production at the beginning of the year gave him a real chance to beat Wayne Gretzky’s absolute record for the number of goals in the regular season.
To overcome it, he needs 27 more accurate hits.
