The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Fascinates Danish Tourism Professionals and French Journalists –

Two separate press trips, one for Danish tour operators and one for French journalists, were organized by the communication company Choose, on behalf of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (PAMTH), largely achieving the goal of promoting the rich history, natural beauty and authentic hospitality of the region.

As part of the “Hugs Full of Greece” campaign, PAMTH hosted Danish tourism professionals, who, from May 23 to 29, took part in an exciting trip to get to know the region. The first stop was Alexandroupoli, where the journalists enjoyed a delicious welcome dinner at a popular haute cuisine restaurant in the city.

The next day, there was an unforgettable boat ride in the Evros Delta, where visitors were impressed by the wild beauty and unique biodiversity. Then, they set sail for the enchanting island of Samothraki, where they toured the picturesque village of Chora, dined in a traditional tavern, while the next day they were enchanted by the Sanctuary of the Great Gods and the beautiful natural pools Vathres.

The exploration continued with a hike in the forest of Dadia, a visit to the historical city and the silk museums of Soufli and dinner in a well-known restaurant in Alexandroupoli.

The Danish journalists traveled, the next day, to Komotini, where they toured the cosmopolitan city, visited the Jeni Mosque and the floating monastery of Agios Nikolaos in Porto Lagos.

Continuing west, they reached Xanthi, where they toured the beautiful old town and were impressed by the panoramic view from the Nestos Observatory. Dinner at a modern restaurant in Kavala completed their unforgettable experience in the area.

On the 5th day, the journalists visited Drama, toured the park of Agia Varvara and had lunch at a local winery, combining wine and food. Afterwards, they visited the Philippi archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Lydia baptistery.

The last day of the trip was dedicated to the island of Thassos, where the journalists visited the monastery of Archangelos, with its amazing view and the beautiful natural pool “Giola”.

The second press trip to PAMTH was also completed with great success, with the participation of French journalists, who were enchanted by the rich heritage, culture and authentic hospitality of the region through their acquaintance with the history, local cuisine, customs and the traditions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Notable stops of the trip were the visit to the Nestos Straits, the boating in the Evros Delta, and the hike to Mount Saos in Samothraki.

The “Embrace Full of Greece” campaign continues vigorously in the coming months with the organization of new press trips where Greek and foreign journalists and content creators will participate, with the aim of exploring up close the beauty and hidden gems of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
