The Republicans have chosen Trump as their presidential candidate

The Republican Party in the United States has chosen Donald Trump as the party’s presidential candidate.

It happened at a party convention on Monday.

Trump is expected to accept the nomination in a speech on Thursday, the last day of the convention.

The Republican Party’s choice of him as presidential candidate comes as no surprise to anyone.

Trump was the only candidate left after the party’s primaries earlier this year.

His last remaining challenger, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, withdrew from the race to become the Republican presidential nominee in early March.

This paved the way for Trump to make another attempt to return to the White House when the US holds presidential elections on November 5.

Here he appears to be facing the current US president, Joe Biden.

However, Joe Biden has recently faced internal criticism in the Democratic Party, where some members believe that the president should be replaced as a candidate.

This is particularly due to a TV debate where, according to critics, he appeared incoherent towards Donald Trump. Since then, among other things, he has also confused the names of his own vice president, Kamala Harris, and Trump.

This has raised concerns about the 81-year-old president’s ability to continue to hold the highest political post in the country.

However, nothing concrete indicates that Biden is close to being replaced. He has also repeatedly refused to withdraw his candidacy.

The Republican Party convention, which runs from Monday to Thursday, is being held in the shadow of dramatic events over the weekend.

Here, Donald Trump was subjected to an assassination attempt that ended with him being shot in the right ear.

The ex-president could be seen with blood running down from his right ear. But it was also quickly announced that he was safe and well.

The news agency Reuters writes that Trump has said that he will write his big speech about. That decision was taken after Saturday’s attack.

Rather than pointing out the differences between himself and Biden, Trump is now expected to call for Americans to stand together.
