The results speak for THEMSELVES: The Ministry of Rural Care is on a MISSION for rural revival!

The villages of Serbia are waiting for young people, is the message that marked the year 2024 in the work of the Ministry of Rural Care. At the ceremony in the Palace of Serbia, the results of the program that brought new life to Serbian villages were presented.

As Minister Milan Krkobabic pointed out, the preservation of the countryside, the independence of young people, the transition of young people from cities to villages, represents a national mission and a patriotic task.

It is not a one-time campaign, but a serious, long-term strategy supported by the National Team for the Revival of the Villages of Serbia, SANA, SPC, and the President of the Republic. However, behind this strategy stand primarily young people, with the desire to become independent and start their life and work in the countryside.

That is why financial resources for this purpose must be a priority when allocating resources from the budget of the Republic of Serbia. Young people deserve it, and in 4 years funds were allocated for the purchase of 3,520 houses, the average age is less than 30, while one third of the mentioned number of young people moved from the city to the countryside.

“Young people deserve to have their own roof over their heads and manage their own lives,” concluded Minister Krkobabic.

The program of settlement of abandoned houses is already recognized as an identity card of this ministry. This year alone, 870 houses came to life. Mina Vujanović from Belgrade is one of the young people who started their new life in the countryside.

As she explained while addressing the audience at the Palace of Serbia, this program changed her family’s life. They decided to have their own roof over their heads, so they moved from Belgrade to the village of Brajkovići, close to Kosjerić. They are very happy with this decision, and above all because of their children, who will live in the fresh air, in nature, surrounded by animals, and, as Mina explained, there is nothing more beautiful than that.

Similar impressions were shared by Dragana Janjin, who moved with her family from Novi Sad, where they lived as tenants, to Đurđevo. Today, they plan to breed chickens within their new property, which they have arranged according to their needs.

Free transportation by minibuses is another way in which the Ministry for the Care of the Villages has reached out to the residents of Serbian villages. 78 vehicles were allocated, including 4 municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija.

The “Michael Meetings of Villages” event is here to help nurture tradition. From June to December this year, this event gathered as many as 250,000 participants from 1,500 villages.

The new program of the Ministry for the care of the countryside is i renovation of rural homeswhich have always been a meeting place for the rural population and a place where cultural and social life is nurtured.

As Minister Krkobabic concluded, Serbia needs a mission, and with such initiatives, Serbia has a bright future.
