The retired US admiral made a prediction: what outcome of the war in Ukraine can be expected after the arrival of D. Trump?

The admiral told reporters from Newsweek and CNN that the United States cannot force Russia and Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table, but will press both sides to make it happen.

According to J. Stavridi, the war in Ukraine against the Russian army, after the US presidential election and the victory of the Republican Donald Trump, could end in negotiations, and the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could get the part of the Ukrainian territory that was already occupied by the Moscow regime.

“I think he will… put pressure on both sides to come to the negotiating table and it would be like the end of the Korean War (1950-1953 war between North and South Korea, – ed. post),” – said J. Stavridi.

The former commander-in-chief of NATO’s allied armed forces in Europe noted that most of Ukraine’s territory will remain under Kyiv’s control:

“Unfortunately, in the real world, Putin will end up with about 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory, the portion he currently controls. But the rest of the land of Ukraine, about 80 percent, all the resources, the vast majority of the population, will remain democratic and free.”

Most of the territory of Ukraine will remain under the control of Kyiv.

Stavridi was asked by Newsweek how long he thought negotiations might take after Trump took office.

“Negotiations for a ceasefire and a final agreement will take months.” Ukraine can become a NATO member in a couple of years,” he predicted.

Also, the admiral emphasized that the US cannot force an agreement on a negotiated solution to the war – it must be agreed between the Ukrainians and the Russians.

Stavridi hopes Trump can end the war between the Ukrainians and Russians within 24 hours, as promised. The reserve admiral added that he would then be the first to vote for D. Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

During the election campaign, Trump promised that he would quickly resolve the war between Ukraine and Russia shortly after winning the presidential election.

In early November, Trump won the election. His rival, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, believes that a quick resolution to the war in Ukraine hides pressure on Kyiv to surrender.

Western media have revealed details of the alleged Republican “peace plan” for Ukraine. According to The Wall Street Journal, the plan allegedly involves “freezing the battle line” without de-occupation of the territories and Ukraine’s refusal to become a NATO member for 20 years.
