Star Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a bitter 1:4 loss with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup match with Al Hilal.
The Portuguese was already jeered by the fans during the match itself and Ronaldo finally left the pitch without attending the final ceremony with the awarding of the trophy to the winning team.
The match started well for Ronaldo and his teammates. Shortly before the end of the first half, the 39-year-old veteran put Al-Nassr in the lead and brought him closer to winning the Super Cup. However, in the second act, nothing went according to plan.
The wrinkles on Ronaldo’s forehead were caused by the hired Serbian representatives in the Al Hilal team. With two goals from gunner Aleksandar Mitrović, one from his compatriot Sergej Milinković-Savič and an intervention from Malcolm, Al Hilal dismantled their opponent and celebrated the trophy.
Ronaldo was mocked throughout the match by fans from the stands who kept shouting “Messi, Messi” at him. In the end, the Portuguese caused a minor scandal.
The five-time winner of the Golden Ball did not participate in the award ceremony and did not accept the silver medal for the defeated team. With this step, he probably did not gain many new fans in Saudi Arabia.
