The debate on tourismophobia has resurfaced with force in Barcelona following the demonstrations called against mass tourism and its consequences on coexistence. Posters such as “Tourist go home!” have proliferated and have opened another discussion on whether this hatred of tourists can turn against those who promote it, because all citizens have been or will be tourists, whether in other countries or within Catalonia. Behind this tourismophobic movement there are citizen entities that have received the support of political parties such as Comuns Sumar or the CUP. Therefore, the result of one of the questions in the survey by the Centre d’Estudis d’Opinió (CEO) of the Generalitat presented yesterday on the plans to go on holiday is striking. Precisely, the voters of the CUP (65%) and Comuns Sumar (64%) are those who express their intention to become tourists this summer. Those who are least likely to go on holiday are voters of Vox (45%) and PSC (51%).
