While the renewal of DTT frequencies will take effect on March 1, the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) revealed, at the beginning of the week, the new numbering of DTT channels which will be effective from month of June. While France 4 will steal fourth position from Canal+, La Chaîne Parlementaire (LCP) will replace C8 on channel 8.
Continuous news channels will also be largely affected by this reallocation: BFM TV (13), CNews (14), LCI (15) and Franceinfo (16) will all change position, much to the chagrin of BFM TV. “By disrupting the numbering of TNT, Arcom is making a decision contrary to the interest of the public, the vast majority of whom want the minimum change in their habits linked to numbering”regrets the RMC BFM group in a press release.
The remedies examined by RMC BFM
According to the group, this decision – which it judges “arbitrary” et “source of an unprecedented break in equality in the history of TNT” – the disadvantage. “The RMC BFM group is surprised by the change in position of Arcom, whose case law has until now allocated the latest available numbers to the latest entrants (Editor’s note: The two new channels (CMI TV and Ouest France TV) will be broadcast respectively on channels 18 and 19 of TNT)”he laments in the press release. RMC BFM has therefore decided to examine possible avenues of appeal on these decisions.
