From January 14 to May 13, the Rothko Museum will host a series of five events for youth from fifteen to eighteen years old, aimed at developing cultural understanding, creative expression and critical thinking skills, according to the self-government portal.
A series of seminars and master classes at the Rothko Museum takes place within the framework of the project “The Value of Cultural Literacy in Europe” of the Apvārsnis Eiropa program in collaboration with Daugavpils University. The project aims to explore how meaningful experiences with contemporary art influence young people’s attitudes towards others. A series of events at the Rothko Museum will combine theory and practice through viewing art exhibitions, conversations with curators and creative workshops.
Events will take place on January 14, February 18, March 18, April 15 and May 13 from 12:00 to 15:00.
At the event on January 14, together with the curator of the exhibition “Disegno interno: Surrender to your illusions” Aivar Baranovsky, young people will get acquainted with surrealism in the works of Jan Švankmajer and Eva Švankmajer (Czech Republic) and in a creative workshop with the artist Mairita Folkmane, they will create assemblages from reused materials.
You can submit an application by emailing mairita.folkmane@daugavpils.lv or calling +371 26564817.
