By 10:00 Moscow time, at the opening of trading, the Moscow Exchange index decreased by 0.85%, to 2804.5 points. By 10:01, the index had accelerated its decline to 2,799.08 (-1.04%), falling below 2,800 points for the first time since December 28, 2024.

By 10:13 the index was at the level of 2794.86 points. Interfax connects a decline in stock market indicators with “continued profit-taking by players against the backdrop of deteriorating external conditions.”

Then the Moscow Exchange index recovered – by 12:05 the indicator was at the level of 2815.76 points. In previous trading on January 3, the Moscow Exchange index came close to 2,900 points at the beginning of the session, but ended the day with a pullback below 2,830 points.

With the opening of trading on January 6, the RTS index also decreased by 0.85%, to 868.88 points. By 10:14 the indicator had dropped to 865.88 points, but by 12:05 it had recovered to 872.28. By the time trading closed on January 3, the RTS index exceeded 876 points.
