Russian sources report on the sudden penetration of the Russian army into Kupyansk, where attacks on the city positions of the Ukrainian side have begun.
According to the map published by the Ukrainian portal “Deep State”, the fighting is ongoing in the area of Zaoskolje, which is located on the left bank of the Oskol River. The first footage of fighting inside the city of Kupyansk has emerged, but the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not mention the city in official reports.
According to some military sources, two convoys of Russian military equipment advanced from the Liman one area towards Kupyansk, through the section leading to the road to Svatovo. The first group consisted of two “MT-LB” armored personnel carriers, an infantry fighting vehicle and one tank. The second column went in the dark, so its exact composition is not known.
Russian sources add that one of the “MT-LB” vehicles reached Svatovskaja Street, but was later destroyed on Nekrasova Street.
The Russian “landing” succeeded – the soldiers landed and occupied the surrounding buildings. This raid by a Russian armored column was carried out deep into Ukrainian territory and the city is a complete surprise.
Certain sources from the Ukrainian side claim that Russian soldiers wore Ukrainian insignia during the invasion of Kupyansk. “Deep State” states that the situation on the conflict line has become complex and unpredictable for both sides, especially during the last months, reports Srna.
The front line is irregular and scattered, with units scattered throughout the forest, where the war takes a strange and unusual turn, especially during unit rotations.
Russian forces seized Kupyansk, a strategically important railway junction, shortly after the start of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but Ukrainian troops liberated it in a counter-offensive in the fall of the same year.
