The salary of police aspirants will be increased significantly – to 23,000 kroner

The new salary applies to those who start their aspirant education after January 1, 2025. It will be the first increase in the aspirant salary in 22 years, after it has remained stagnant at SEK 15,000 a month.

The previously low salary meant that many aspirants had a lower income during the internship than during the theoretical studies, when they received study funds from CSN.

The police union has long worked for a raise.

– It is very welcome that the aspirant salary is increased. I hope that the increase attracts more people to the police profession and that also more elderly people with life experience and other jobs choose to become police officers. We need more of them, says Katharina von Sydow, president of the Police Association, in a statement.

Now, for the first time, there is an agreement between the Police Association and the Police Authority regarding both a new salary level and that the aspirants’ salaries must be followed up so that it remains at an appropriate level in the future as well. The conditions for the new salary were laid down in the government’s budget earlier this fall, which included investments in, among other things, police aspirants.

The agreement between the Police Authority, the Police Union, Saco-S, Seko Police and ST within the Police also includes that the trade unions must be involved in changing the model for setting salaries for newly appointed police assistants.
