Fortum’s the debt-free purchase price of the sale of the recycling and waste business Summa Equitylle is about 800 million euros. Fortum records a tax-free capital gain of around 180 million euros from the transaction.
The capital gain will be recorded as items affecting comparability in the result of the fourth quarter of 2024 of the Other operations segment. The net cash flow from the transaction is approximately EUR 720 million.
The sale of the recycling and waste business is part of the strategic evaluation of Fortum’s Circular Solutions businesses.
Following the previously announced sales of recycling and waste businesses, bio-based solutions and turbine and generator services, the strategic evaluation continues for the remaining battery recycling operations and waste-to-energy businesses located in Great Britain.
