The cheaper version of the series contains a number of new features compared to last year.
This year for Samsung was already quite busy, but now it seems that the market-leading manufacturer has some surprises in store for the last months as well. Like the S24 Plus, the S24 FE is equipped with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The 120 Hz refresh rate is not bad, although its resolution is “only” 2340 x 1080 (Full HD), which is slightly lower than the one installed in the S24 Plus.
On the back, there is a triple camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. A 10-megapixel front-facing camera is available for selfies. The primary and ultra-wide cameras remain the same as in the S24 Plus.
The specifications change a lot if you look under the back cover. The new model packs the brand’s own average Exynos 2400e chipset instead of the excellent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is the more modest performance version of the chip that the manufacturer distributed outside the USA.
Anyone who wants to pay less for their own Samsung phone should also pay less for memory. The S24 FE is equipped with 8 GB of RAM, and you can choose between 128 and 256 GB versions, which further increases the number of compromises necessary for the sake of the price. In comparison, the S24 Plus offers 12GB of RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
The device is supplied with the necessary energy by a 4700 mAh battery, which can be charged at 25 watts, and this is also weaker than the 4900 mAh battery of the “big brother”, which can be charged at up to 45 watts. However, the only consolation can make us forget these discouraging data: we have to pay significantly less for all of this.
While the Galaxy S24 Plus started at $1,000, the base Galaxy S24 FE costs just $650. That’s $50 more than last year’s flagship, but still significantly cheaper than the S24 Plus. Samsung’s new S24 FE phone is available for pre-order today in graphite, gray, blue and mint colors.
