The search for the disappearance of 39-year-old Vassilis is fruitless – “There is not a single crack of light” – different

The investigations of the authorities and volunteers who are “scanning” areas of Larissa to locate 39-year-old Vassilis Kalogirou, who has been missing since December 30, 2024, remain fruitless. Through the “microscope” of the authorities, video material from security cameras, reports from citizens and every detail that could help find the missing man.

The search for the 39-year-old is focused on the banks of the Pinios river, on abandoned buildings, but also on its bed, despite the difficult conditions, due to the materials being transported. There is store security camera footage of him walking by the river on Monday 30 January 2024 at 5.10pm.

“There is not a single crack of light”

The private investigator hired by the missing person’s family, George Tsoukalisin his most recent statements, stated that, “unfortunately still there is not a single crack of lightbut hopefully we will create it, because this puzzle has to be solved and the family has to find out what exactly happened because a Calvary lives on.”.

He arrived shortly before 7 pm on Wednesday (08/01) in the capital of Thessaly and called on people to show empathy and not report things that have nothing to do with reality. “Every conscientious Greek, except for some who do not respect and cannot understand what this family who has lost their child is suffering and various things are heard that have nothing to do with reality”he added.

In addition, Mr. Tsoukalis was mentioned once more in how tight was the family stressing that, “I have the honor and have undertaken a case with a very close-knit family, who are close to the church, simple and approachable people who have really touched me with their kindness. We all have to put our heads down and see how we can help, how we can communicate the issue of Basil so he can be found.”.

For the continuation of the investigations, he explained that all the scenarios are in the frame, with him, however, hoping that “good will prevail and Vassilis will be found in the end and he will be fine.”

“There are many testimonies and there are quite a few who really want to help like what happened with the phone call that was made when I was with the family on the first day. My associates went and indeed there was a man who resembled him, but it wasn’t him. But there are enough testimonies”said Mr. Tsoukalis.

Finally, he noted that, “I don’t want to talk aerologies, the family is in a state of shockwith sadness that she lost her child. There will be some discussions about the continuation of the investigations. Pinios has a high degree of difficulty and you all know that, but we will see what we do next.”

C. Tsoukalis: Unfortunately there is still no crack of light

“The parents put a lot of pressure on him, they make Tsoukalis a fairy tale”

On the contrary, a relative of Vassilis, speaking to OPEN, said that the missing person was under a lot of pressure from his family environment and indeed his parents “they make Tsoukalis a fairy tale so as not to expose themselves”.

Characteristically, as the witness initially stated, “two years ago the child, before being appointed was in the village with his father all winter. They were two people alone in the snow, in the cold. He would not leave Vassilis alone for a minute. Together in church, together for coffee, together at home, together everywhere. Last year the young man was appointed to Samos, he was with his father all the time, throughout the period of time.”

Continuing, the relative wondered: “Well, for a 39-year-old to be with his father all year round in Samos, do you think that’s normal?”

“The child was oppressed too much by his father and his mother”

Responding to a related question if he believes this played a role in the disappearance of 39-year-old Vassilis, the relative answered in the affirmative, stressing then that he was under too much pressure.

“Yes, the child was oppressed far too much by his father and mother. Too. “Santa, don’t do that, Santa, don’t do that. Santa why did you do this. Santa why did you do that”. The child also resented what they say on TV that the family was close and such, she was tied up but the child was “tied up”, oppressed. “Yes father, yes mother”. “Yes dad, yes mom”. Stickers how can I explain? Like Siamese”added the relative.

“They fictionalize Tsoukalis in order not to expose themselves. They took him from monastery to monastery”concluded the relative of the 39-year-old.

The investigations involve, among others, men of the 8th and 2nd EMAK, volunteers and two trained dogs, as well as a drone that scans the area to identify evidence that will lead to the finding of the 39-year-old. From Monday, the searches were reinforced with a special sonar of the volunteer rescue team of the Red Cross.

The 39-year-old disappeared after a family dinner on New Year’s Eve when, after the meal, he went for his customary walk, leaving his mobile phone behind. Since then his fate is unknown. He had recently been assigned to a school in Kozani and was in Larissa for the holiday season.
