The second group of Thai national badminton players has departed for Paris, France, at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Thai Airways flight TG 930. Led by “View” Kunlavut Vitidsarn, “May” Ratchanok Intanon, “M” Suphak Jomkoh, “Sky” Kitinupong Ketsuren, “Gift” Jongkolphan Kititharakul, “View” Rawinda Prajongjai, “Bas” Dechapol Puavaranukroh, “Popor” Sapsiree Taerattanchai, “Coach Ohm” Tessana Panvisawat, “Coach Som” Lt. Cdr. Saralee Thungthongkam, “Coach Pae” Phattaphon Ngernsrisuk and Narunath Chaijaiwet, they were joined on the trip by Air Chief Marshal Narong Intachart, Chairman of Athlete Excellence Development, who also traveled to give a speech and encourage the Thai badminton athletes at the airport.
After “May” Supanida Ketthong and “Coach Kim” Kim Ji Hoon, trainers, as well as Khunying Pathama Leesawattrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee, Vice President of the Badminton World Federation and President of the Thailand Tennis Association, had already traveled in advance last week.
On the other hand, “Gift” Jongkolphan Kititharakul and “View” Rawinda Prajongjai, the world’s 10th ranked female doubles pair, said, “I admit that the competition line is a good thing for both of us. But we can’t underestimate even one pair. Even though we think we have a chance to advance, all 4 pairs in our group are skilled. As for our physical condition, we are now quite ready for our 2nd Olympics. We will do our best.”
While “M” Suphak Jomkoh and “Sky” Kitinupong Ketren, the world’s 24th ranked male doubles pair, said, “The readiness is now 100 percent fit for our first Olympics. There is some excitement to participate in such a big competition. As for the competition line that came out, it is a good thing, but we will look at it match by match, so we do not think that we have to enter the knockout round. As for the weather in France right now, which is extremely hot for both teams, it is not a problem for us. Once we get to Paris, we will have to practice a little more to adjust to the field conditions and go down to play the best we can in the form that we have practiced. I believe that the results of every match will be good.”
Khunying Pathama Leeswadtrakul, member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), vice president of the Badminton World Federation and president of the Badminton Association of Thailand, said, “Now, all 9 badminton players are ready for the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held from 27 July to 5 August 2024. In the 4-year Olympic Games, I would like to ask all badminton players to perform their best and play in the way they have practiced. I believe that the results will definitely be as planned.
Upon arrival in Paris, all badminton players will practice on the real court at the Adidas Arena for the last time. The nine Thai badminton players should be able to adjust to the court quickly, as this court was used for the French Open last March.
