The lost diaries of Unity Mitford, the English aristocrat who became Hitler’s obsessive admirer, have been revealed after 80 years, writes Daily Mail. The recently discovered leather diary, which covers the period 1935-1939, offers a shocking glimpse into his relationship with the infamous dictator. Unity Mitford, one of the famous Mitford sisters, scandalized British society with her unwavering devotion to Hitler, whom she called “Führer” or “He” and “His”, idolizing him as a god. The age difference between them was 25 years, Unity being younger than Hitler.

Her diary records 139 meetings with Hitler, highlighting her deep admiration for him and her entry into the inner circle of the Nazi regime in Germany. The writings reveal intimate and disturbing revelations about her interactions with the Nazi regime and her growing obsession with the dictator. Mitford’s passionate attachment to Hitler, including possible romantic involvement, is evident in his diary entries.

The diary also provides a window into his troubled state of mind as he faced the impending war between Britain and Nazi Germany. On the eve of the Second World War, after the German invasion of Poland, Mitford attempted suicide, suffering brain damage and returning to Britain, where he died in 1948.
