The new miniseries “Lady by the Lake,” based on the book of the same name, debuts today on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes.
The show stars Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram in the lead roles, confirming that Apple continues to invest in big stars with big-budget streaming productions. The seven-episode series will conclude on August 23.
“The Lady of the Lake” is centered on the character of Natalie Portmannamed Maddie Schwartz, who investigates unsolved murder cases as an investigative journalist.
When a young girl’s disappearance rocks Baltimore on Thanksgiving Day 1966, two women’s lives collide in a fatal collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) is a Jewish housewife struggling to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, while Cleo Sherwood (Moses Ingram) is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Baltimore’s black community and struggling to provide for her family. At first, their disparate lives seem to be moving in parallel, but when Maddie focuses on Cleo’s mysterious death, a chasm opens up that endangers everyone around them.
We are therefore faced with a noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price that women pay for their dreams.
The first two episodes are available su Apple TV+.
