The settlement of ancient metallurgists will be revived near Yekaterinburg

The Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg is implementing the project “The Origins of Iset” – the reconstruction of the village of Itkul metallurgists of the 8th-3rd centuries BC. The settlement will be located on the island “Stone Tents” (the village of Palkino, on the banks of the Iset River).

It was here, as the museum clarified, that archaeologists discovered a large number of artifacts: the remains of settlements, sanctuaries, ancient settlements, megaliths, rock paintings, as well as metallurgical sites where local residents smelted copper. Scientists believe that this territory was inhabited in the Mesolithic.

For the first time, the project “Iseti Origins” was presented in November last year. At the same time, as specified on the official portal Ekaterinburg.RF, the department of the Ministry of Culture for the Volga and Ural Federal Districts supported the idea of ​​​​creating a regional depository for archeology. For scientists, this means that the collection of artifacts can be increased several times.

According to the director of the Museum of History of Yekaterinburg, Igor Pushkarev, Yekaterinburg expeditions alone find 50 thousand artifacts annually. A special place is required to store them.

It is planned to recreate the village of Itkul metallurgists in life-size, based on archaeological data. “Stone Tents” is easy to get to: from the EKAD to the historical site you need to drive only 300 meters. The museum is confident that “The Origins of Iset” will become a place of attraction for tourists.

How reports Interfax, by the end of this year, scientists will create a virtual image of the village. It is drawn based on finds made in the upper reaches of the Iset. Now 140 archaeological sites have been discovered here, excavations have been carried out at 20 of them. Once the virtual museum is created, work will begin on allocating land and funding for the offline project.
