The Shuvalovsky forest in St. Petersburg is again threatened to be cut down and the plots to be built up

The developer filed a new lawsuit against the Legislative Assembly and the city government.

In St. Petersburg, the topic of development in the Shuvalovsky forest is being discussed again. Local residents are against it, but entrepreneurs are seeking permission through the courts to “develop” the territories.

Thus, a new lawsuit was filed against the Zaksu and the government of St. Petersburg by Specialized Developer Vector LLC (Seven Suns Development structure). The developer owns two land plots at the intersection of Parachute Street and Shuvalovsky Prospekt. According to “DP“, at the time of purchase, the plots belonged to the zone of multi-storey residential development, but then a new general plan of the territory was adopted, and the plots were transferred to a recreational zone, where residential construction is prohibited. However, the developer is not satisfied with this, and the company files lawsuits.

The city court had already rejected the developer’s claim, but the developer did not agree with the decision and filed a new one.

The developer’s actions are met with objections from local residents who are against cutting down the forest separating residential buildings from the industrial zone. So far, the government of St. Petersburg is on the side of the citizens, but the final decision will be made by the court. It is possible that the developer may be provided with an alternative land option for residential development.
