Is it the popular TikTok videos of people pretending to be Sims, is it the new Sims game that’s coming, or is it just a crazy idea? Maybe all three, but The Sims game is getting a movie.
If there’s one company that can take a chance, it’s Amazon. The hugely wealthy company, which also has its own streaming service Prime Video, is producing the film. Kate Herron (Loki) has been tapped to direct the film, but who will play the gibberish-speaking Sims is still unknown. However, the game company behind the game, Electronic Arts, is involved in the project, which has now finally made it official that it’s coming.
The Sims: The Movie
Unfortunately, that’s where the information ends: it hasn’t been shared what the film is about or when it will be released. We do know that Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap is co-producing, which makes people hope that Robbie herself will step into the digital skin of a Sim. She would certainly be a good fit after her Barbie doll portrayal in the hit summer film of 2023 Barbie.
Meanwhile, a new Sims game is also in development. It is known by the working title Project Rene and is now being tested. In the meantime, people are still playing The Sims 4: tens of thousands of people play it and the game has been played by a total of 70 million people. The Sims is attractive because you can do many different things with it.

It is a kind of virtual dollhouse that comes to life, in which you can design characters that look exactly like you or a celebrity, but you can also fully focus on designing or decorating the most beautiful house. Then those Sims also come to life and you can guide them to a job, a marriage, but also: death. Not in a gloomy way, because The Sims is known for its funny, light-hearted humor. Something that we certainly expect in the film.
