“The Sims” movie in development from Amazon

EA announced that the The Sims will be transferred to the cinema, in a collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Directed and written by Kate Herron (Loki, The Last of Us) and Briony Redman (Doctor Who). Margot Robbie, through her production company LuckyChap, will also be part of the production team, aiming for the film to have the success and scale of the Barbie movie.

The film seeks to stay true to the game experience, with references and Easter eggs from The Sims universe. Freezer Bunnies and a pool without a ladder are some of the elements that will make an appearance in the film, while EA wants to appeal to players who feel “love and nostalgia” for the series.

At the same time, EA announced that it does not intend to release the The Sims 5 direct, but it will continue to update The Sims 4, which is already 10 years old, with paid expansions. In addition, the company is launching a creator program where players will be able to sell their creations as “Creator Kits”.

In addition, EA is working on Project Rene, a cross-border multiplayer project, which has been underway for two years. EA plans to hold a limited-participation playtest this fall, expanding The Sims universe into new game formats.

The film aims to bring the unique experience and world of The Sims to the big screen, while the series continues to evolve with new features and content, driven by the continued support and development of The Sims 4.
