On the occasion of the sixth edition Lake Como Design Festival enriches its program with a series of exhibitions and special events in Como and around its lake. The exhibitions, which can be visited from 15th to 22nd September 2024revolve around the theme of lightnessexpressed in projects that stimulate reflection and fuel the dialogue between art and design.
Strengthening this virtuous dynamic is the choice of locations: villas, palaces, unique architectural contexts that become an integral part of the exhibition path.
In the centre of Como the festival takes place between the Palazzo del Broletto, which hosts the exhibition The Form of Lightnessdedicated to the lightness of the chair, and the church of San Pietro in Atrio with Lightness on paper, project created to celebrate 35 years of Lithosa Como-based publishing house specializing in prints and art books.
The protagonists on the lakeside are Villa of Grumello with the exhibition Lightness in Progress – a reasoned selection of works, projects and objects from galleries, design studios and archives that aim to develop a path around the theme of lightness in its broadest sense – and the locations of the Kilometer of Knowledgewhich welcome the projects of the Contemporary Design Selection, an exhibition dedicated to independent design curated for the second consecutive year by Joanna Masons.
On display is a series of objects between arcane forms and innovation in search of a fertile and never nostalgic connection between past and presentwith the desire to rediscover the local artisan heritage but lightening it from the weight of tradition, eliminating the superfluous and updating techniques and materials in the name of sustainability.
Finally, in the Villa Anna of Cernobbio and Borgovico33 in the center of Como two special projects by the Grieder Contemporary gallery and in various locations in the city the site-specific installations created by the artist Valerio Eliogabalo Torrisi.
